What is the Chickpea Project?

The Chickpea Project is a consortium of public and private organizations which has the goal of spreading awareness and promoting the use of chickpea through the development of new varieties better adapted to local environments and, furthermore, new chickpea-based products with great added value.

The consortium was founded by ZAYINTEC and AGRIGENSOL, two Spanish companies specialized in food and agriculture R&D. In addition, they have the support of the University of Cordoba and Andalusian Regional Government Institute of Agrarian, Fisheries, Food and Organic Production Research and Training (IFAPA), both contributing to the project with their extensive experience in chickpea genetic improvement.
